Lady Tigers 0-2 at Hermann Tourney

The St. James High softball squad finished 0-2 in the Hermann Tournament, held Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Lady Tigers lost to eventual tourney champion Mark Twain 15-0 and to host Hermann 11-7 in the event.

Earlier in the week St. James clipped St. Clair 5-4 on the road and lost at Owensville 15-0 in Four Rivers Conference play.

That left the Lady Tigers 6-14 overall and 1-5 in the FRC.

This week St. James was to end the regular season by playing at Newburg Monday, host Stoutland Wednesday at Nelson Hart Park (4:30 p.m.) and at Crocker Thursday (4:30 p.m.).

Oct. 3 – Hermann Tournament

Mark Twain 15, STJ 0: The Lady Tigers were no-hit by Mark Twain, which scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning, three in the third and five in the fourth. The game was stopped after four frames. Mark Twain had just six hits but took advantage of 11 walks. Four Lady Tigers pitched.

Hermann 11, STJ 7: Hermann took the early lead and kept it, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning, one in the third and three in the fourth to make it 8-0. The Lady Tigers got a run in the top of the fifth. In the sixth frame St. James got four runs and Hermann tacked on three. The Lady Tigers scored two more runs in the seventh before falling short.

Sept. 29 - Owensville 15, STJ 0: The Lady Dutchgirls scored in every inning, getting four in the bottom of the first, one in the second, five in the third and five in the fourth. Owensville outhit STJ 11-3. Kirrah Drennan had two hits and Lillian Snelson one for STJ. Lela Teague and Raegan Witt pitched for the Lady Tigers.

Sept. 28 - STJ 5, St. Clair 4: Trailing 4-2, the Lady Tigers erupted for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to come from behind and win. Each team scored two runs in the first inning, and St. Clair tallied solo runs in the bottom of the second and fourth innings. STJ outhit St. Clair 9-5. Anna Hughes and Witt each had two hits and scored a run while Drennan had a double and RBI; Millicent Hartley a hit, two RBI and a run; Snelson a hit and run, and Macy McCurdy and Emma Meurer a hit each. Teague went the distance in the pitching circle to get the win, allowing no earned runs on five hits and eight walks while fanning 13.
