Lady Tigers drop tough, five-set home match

The St. James High volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking, five-set match at home to Chamois 3-2 (12-25, 25-14, 25-15, 23-25, 15-12) Friday, Oct. 3 at the St. James High gym.

Junior Adalee Richardson had nine kills and sophomore Brynlee Costoplos five kills for the Lady Tigers while sophomore Seble Stutzman had seven aces and six digs.

No junior varsity match was held.

Tuesday, Sept. 30 St. James were swept at Cuba 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14). Richardson had two kills and a block; sophomore Aubrey Lind two assists, and freshman Ella Marcee and senior Isabelle Bolte each had five digs. Cuba also won the junior varsity match 2-0 (25-8, 25-8).

And in the Hermann Tournament Monday, Sept. 29 the Lady Tigers lost three matches 2-0, to Washington (25-7, 25-9); to St. Francis Borgia (25-1, 25-14), and to Owensville (25-12, 25-14).

This week St. James was slated to host Linn Monday, Oct. 6 on Lady Tiger Pink-Out Night; host New Haven Tuesday, Oct. 7 on STJ Senior Night, and play at St. Clair Thursday, Oct. 9 (5 p.m.).
