The St. James High volleyball squad dropped a pair of matches against Four Rivers Conference competition last week.
The Lady Tigers hosted Sullivan Tuesday, Sept. 23 and lost 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-7). Sullivan also won the junior varsity match 2-0 (25-7, 25-4) and the C team contest 2-0 (25-8, 25-16). For the Lady Tiger varsity, junior Adalee Richardson had two kills and freshman Alyssa Gill an ace.
And Thursday, Sept. 25 the Lady Tigers traveled to Union and lost 3-0 (25-3, 25-10, 25-9). Union also won the JV match 2-0 (25-7, 25-7) and the C team match 2-0 (25-10, 25-7). For the STJ varsity squad, sophomore Seble Stutzman and sophomore Aubrey Lind each had six digs while Richardson, sophomore Brynlee Costoplos and Lind had a block each.
The Lady Tiger JV squad also competed in the Cuba JV Tourney Saturday, Sept. 27.
This week St. James was to compete in the Hermann Invitational, which began Monday, Sept. 29 and runs through Thursday, Oct. 2. The Lady Tigers are also slated to play at Cuba Tuesday, Sept. 30 and host Chamois Friday, Oct. 3 (6 p.m.).
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host their annual Paint It Pink Night Monday, Oct. 6 at the high school gym. The JV meet begins at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity contest to follow. A silent auction and soup/chili dinner will be held that night, with all proceeds going directly to a local woman who is battling breast cancer.
Also, STJ Senior Night will be Tuesday, Oct. 7 against New Haven.
