It was a successful Senior Day for the St. James High Lady Tiger soccer team, blowing past Dixon 8-0 Thursday, May 7 at Tiger Field.
The game was stopped at halftime on the mercy rule.
In just a half St. James got two goals each from senior Sophie DeLuca and sophomore Scarlet Parsons and one each from senior Ava Snyder, senior Phoebe Gargus, senor Mike’ Nunnery and sophomore Kaelyn Smith.
Senior Baylee Jones got the shutout in goal for the Lady Tigers.
Also last week St. James dropped home games to Four Rivers Conference foe St. Clair 8-0 Monday, May 4 and to Blair Oaks 5-0 Tuesday, May 5.
This week St. James, 7-12, was scheduled to end the regular season at Osage Tuesday and at North County Thursday (5 p.m. start).
St. James has been seeded fifth for the upcoming Missouri Class 2 District 4 Tournament, to be held May 18-22 at Washington. St. Francis Borgia is the host school.
Host Borgia is the top-seed team while Sullivan is seeded No. 2, Wright City No. 3, St. Clair No. 4, St. James No. 5, Mexico No. 6, Owensville No. 7 and Fulton No. 8.
In first round games next week on May 18, it’s Borgia vs. Fulton at 1 p.m.; St. James vs. St. Clair at 3 p.m.; Sullivan vs. Owensville at 5 p.m., and Wright City vs. Mexico at 7 p.m.
In semifinal games May 20, the Borgia/Fulton winner is to play the St. James/St. Clair winner at 5 p.m. while the Sullivan/Owensville winner meets the Wright City/Mexico winner at 7 p.m.
The championship game is set for 5 p.m. May 22.
