BOURBON – The Bourbon High School volleyball team’s season ended on Oct. 23 after falling in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 6 Tournament to Hermann, who was the eventual District champion and State Tournament finalist. The Lady Warhawks finished with a 15-14-2 record on the season. One Warhawk was recently recognized by the district’s coaches for her efforts throughout the season.

Senior Kaylee Enke was named second team all-district for schools in Class 2 District 6, and was a frontcourt force for the Lady Warhawks. She led the team in kills per set, hitting percentage, total blocks and kills. She tallied 2.4 kills per set, a 0.200 hitting percentage, 22 blocks and 149 kills.

The Warhawks will lose Enke’s dominant front court presence along with fellow senior Kaitlyn King, who led the team in assists. However, the team has multiple notable returnees to coach Kelli Bailey’s squad.

Sophomore Lauryn Hercules led the Lady Hawks in digs per set, digs, service aces, aces per set and receptions. She produced 2.5 digs per set, 149 digs, 69 service aces, 1.2 aces per set and 182 receptions.

Fellow sophomore Kenzii Withorn was second on the team in blocks and third on the team in kills, and will be expected to take a leap in her junior year when she will receive a larger role with Enke’s graduation.

Bourbon will return five juniors and four sophomores from this year’s varsity team as they look to retool after losing Enke, King, Piper Sikes and Annalise Goblin to graduation.
