Marilyn Joyce (nee Hamilton) Ransom of Steelville, Missouri was born on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry William Hamilton and Emma Mae (nee Nash) Hamilton and passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 18 days.

Marilyn graduated from Fairview High School in Jennings with the Class of 1959.

On March 20, 1959, she married Billie Richard Ransom in Potosi, Missouri.

Marilyn began her career as a service representative for Southwestern Bell, where she worked for seven years. She later joined McDonnell Douglas, serving in the office for 30 years until her retirement. 

In 1995, Marilyn and Bill returned to Steelville full-time. Together they enjoyed SXS riding, boating, camping and entertaining.

She enjoyed her visits to the Spare Rib Inn.  She volunteered at the Steelville Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

Marilyn had accepted the Lord early in life and was a faithful member of Courtois Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Emma Hamilton; husband, Bill Ransom; parents-in-law, Dewey and Nora Ransom;  son, Kevin William Ransom; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Elaine) Ransom, Ava (Bud) Viehman, Janet Eckert, Lawrence “Murf” Ransom  and Wanda Ransom; special niece, Alisha Ransom.

Marilyn is survived by her special nephew, Chris Ransom of Steelville, Missouri; special great nieces, Erica (Justin) Mincks of Rogersville, Missouri and Erin (Keegan) Callow of Wentzville, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve (Linda) Ransom, Larry Ransom, Jeff Ransom and Steve Eckert all of Steelville, Missouri, Wanda (Bill) Bogue of Cuba, Missouri, Pat (Alan) Brown of Cherryville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. 

Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. 

Following Marilyn’s wishes, the family chose cremation as her final disposition and later will have an inurnment at Gibbs Cemetery.
