Latosha Mullhall, an educator at St. James Middle School, goes above and beyond by transporting students from her class to assist with Commodity Day distribution every third Thursday of the month.
Students begin arriving as early as 7 a.m., well before the 7:30 start time. During that half hour, they jump right into action—filling grocery carts with food, unpacking items delivered by the food bank minimobile vehicle and helping with any other tasks that need attention.
Volunteering at this age gives students a meaningful understanding of community commitment and the impact of service. With rising food prices and ongoing income challenges, the Caring Center’s mission to help families bridge food gaps is more important than ever. Ensuring that no one goes hungry remains at the heart of everything we do.
To register for Commodity Day distribution, contact Rita at the Caring Center at 573-265-2047.
