Neil Eugene Schmidt of Sullivan, Missouri was born on May 25, 1936 in Sullivan, Missouri to Stephan and Goldie (Greenlee) Schmidt and passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the age of 89 years.

He was raised and attended school in the Spring Bluff and Sullivan area.

On September 11, 1954, he married Shirley Jean Bandy in Sullivan, Missouri.

Neil worked for 42 years at Alton Boxboard Co. (now Graphic Packaging) in Pacific, Missouri.

He enjoyed being at home and outdoors, especially working with his cattle. He was particularly fond of his Red Angus bull, Barney.

He and Shirley were longtime members of Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Sullivan, Missouri, where he served as an usher. He also enjoyed southern gospel music, especially Jimmy Swaggart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephan and Goldie Schmidt; and brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Mildred Schmidt.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Shirley Schmidt of Sullivan, Missouri; three daughters, Sherry Stout of Cuba, Missouri, Sandy Wiles and husband Tim of St. James, Missouri and Marcia Schmidt of Sullivan, Missouri; three grandchildren, Dereck Andrew Curtis and wife Stacie, Joshua Victor Holt and wife Brittany and Jillian Rachel Driskill; nine great grandchildren, Alexis, Mercedes, Eric, Gabriel, Abel, Ellie, Oaklie, Wyatt and Jameson; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at noon Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Ryan Martin officiating.

Interment followed at Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, Missouri

Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Sullivan, Missouri.
