Parishioners left without parking

Posted

I would like to address the parking situation at this year's Cuba Fest. It was brought to my attention that the people running the festival told the vendors they could park in the back parking lot of Holy Cross. If they fill the church lot, the parishioners have no place to park for the Sunday Mass. The mass doesn't get canceled because there is a festival. The lot is needed for the parishioners to park. And the parking spaces on the road in front of the church are designated handicap spaces. Most of the cars parked there had no placards or handicap licenses. Those spots are needed by handicapped parishioners. The handicap signs are not to be dismissed if there's a festival. When someone parks in front of the sidewalk ramps, people in wheelchairs have no way to cross the street onto the sidewalk. Please try to show some respect to others. With the volume of people at the festival, maybe it would be a good idea to hold the festival at the fairgrounds, where there's plenty of parking and area for all the vendors. And there could still be the trolley tours of the Cuba area.
