CUBA – Cuba Parks and Recreation Board on March 31 discussed applications that were turned in for pool positions.
So far, there is only one applicant for the manager and assistant manager positions, six have applied for lifeguards and two applications were submitted for concessions/front desk. Of the six lifeguard applicants, only three are certified.
Chris Kight, board member, mentioned it would be preferable to hire at least eight lifeguards, so he suggested first looking at those who applied for the lifeguard positions, before asking the applicants who applied as willing for any position, to get certified as a lifeguard.
Beth Kight said that they probably need at least three people to work concessions/front desk. Vice President Faye Howard asked if someone could have more than one position at the pool.
“But we do have come lifeguards that said they would work either (as a lifeguard or in concession),” Howard said.
Beth Kight addressed the idea.
“They need a break,” Beth Kight said. “They can be hired as a lifeguard, but they will not work front desk and lifeguard on the same day.”
While no motions were made to hire anyone moving forward, the board hopes to have more applicants before its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. on April 14, before they bring their recommendations to the Cuba Board of Aldermen.
