The Phelps County Senior Companion Program is proud to recognize Patricia Adair of Rolla, Missouri, as the Senior Companion of the Month for November 2025. A devoted volunteer since July 2009, Adair exemplifies compassion, dedication, and a lifelong commitment to service.
Born and raised in a large family, Adair is a mother of three and grandmother of three. Her close-knit family includes three brothers and one sister. A passionate music enthusiast, she began with violin lessons and later taught herself to play the piano by ear—sharing her musical gifts in church services for over 60 years. Her hobbies include reading, playing games, exploring resale shops, fishing, and hiking.
Her life has been shaped by a deep commitment to service. In 1963, she left home to attend Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where she earned a B.A. in Religious Education with a minor in missions. Fueled by her desire to serve, she ventured to some of the most remote regions of Alaska, including Barrow—above the Arctic Circle—where she worked with children and youth in challenging environments.
“I have a deep sense of love for people,” Adair reflects. “Throughout my journey, I’ve worked with diverse populations across various age groups and nationalities, forming meaningful friendships along the way. But one doesn’t need a mission field to serve—I continue my mission right here in Rolla through the Senior Companion Program.”
Her personal motto, discovered in a boutique shop, beautifully captures her spirit: “Do small things with great love.”
As Senior Companion of the Month, she received a floral arrangement donated by Blossom Basket Florist and a $10 gift card from Sinks Pharmacy.
The Senior Companion Program is sponsored by the Phelps County Commission, funded by AmeriCorps Seniors, and supported by local groups and individuals. Senior Companions help their peers maintain the independence they’ve worked for all their lives.
