Peggy Louise (nee Jones) Hampton of St. James, Missouri was born on June 7, 1937 in Desloge, Missouri to Dorothy (nee Denton) Sewell and Eugene Jones and passed away September 5, 2026 at the age of 89 years.
She married James Edmund Hampton on March 23, 1962.
Peggy retired from the St. James School District where she worked as a custodian at the Lucy Wortham James Elementary for over 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hampton; parents, Eugene Jones and Dorothy Sewell; brother, Sonny Jones; and sister, Vickie Dawson.
She is survived by her daughters, Roxana Gray and husband Mark of St. James, Missouri, Lori Terstriep and husband Greg of Bourbon, Missouri and Jamie Jones and husband Robert of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Joshua Gray and wife, Lauren, Deidra Brinker and husband Eric, Amanda Lindemann and husband Adam, Abbey Barker and husband James, Gracie Jones and Leah Johnson; nine great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Lance Langenberg officiating.
