Registration deadline nearing for Team Anita Golf Tournament

Posted

The registration deadline for participants and sponsors for the 11th annual Team Anita Golf Benefit is quickly approaching. Those interested must register before Friday, Oct. 10, to participate.

This year’s event will be held at the Oak Meadows Country Club in Rolla on Monday, Oct. 13, to raise money for the Pay It Forward Fund, benefitting local cancer patients.

Funds raised at the event are kept at the non-profit Mercy Health Foundation, a service of Mercy Hospital Lebanon.

The tournament will be a four-person, team scramble-style tournament, and entry will include golf carts, a tournament t-shirt, lunch on the course and a catered meal after the event. Entry is $500 per team and is open to the first 28 teams.

Prizes will be given throughout the day, including hole-in-one prizes for each par 3, closest to the pin prizes, a putting contest, and the winning score in flights. There will also be a cash prize of $10,000 for a hole-in-one on hole #2, sponsored by Hutcheson Ford.

A raffle will also be held for a Henry Golden Boy .22 Long Rifle. Winners do not need to be present to win, but all federal gun rules apply. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, and the drawing will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The winner will be given a voucher to pick up the rifle from Iron Hill Armory in St. James.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Team Anita Pay it Forward Fund and the Mercy Health Foundation in honor of Anita Lynch, a local mother of three who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and died in March of 2014. Over $175,000 has been raised through the fund to help those going through the cancer process, aiding patients with wigs, nutritional assistance, transportation, gas cards, hotels, glasses, school supplies and other relief for families who have a member battling cancer.

The Pay it Forward Fund has helped purchase 16 infusion chairs for Mercy as well as a victory bell that hangs in the clinic, allowing patients to ring the bell when they finish their treatment. It also provides financial assistance for families as they deal with receiving treatment.

Registrants are asked to prepay the entry fee. Checks should be made out to Team Anita-Pay It Forward Fund, 18032 State Route O, Rolla, MO 65401. Team names, individual names, and t-shirt sizes should be provided when registering. The event grows more popular every year, and interested teams are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Sign-in will begin at 11 a.m. on the day of the event, with a shotgun start at noon. Dinner and awards will begin at 5 p.m., and the final silent auction and gun raffle drawing will be at 6 p.m. There will also be a bouncy house for kids to enjoy.

For non-golfers, event t-shirts are available for $15. To donate to the silent auction, contact organizer Travis Lynch or give monetarily to the benefit. Non-golfers can also attend the dinner for $15 by reservation.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at Platinum for $1,000, Gold for $500 and Silver for $250, along with hole sponsorships for $100 and cart sponsorships for $50. All event sponsors will be named on the back of the benefit t-shirt and on a sign at the event. Donations are being accepted for door prizes, auction items and food donations for golfer lunches.

Interested teams can register by contacting Travis Lynch at 573-467-1380 via email at travanitalynch@embarqmail.com or via Facebook at www.facebook.com/teamanitapayitforward.
