Registration is now open for St. James Parks and Recreation’s yearly summer camps. Camps run from June 1 to Aug. 7 and are open to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade this fall.
Kids will participate in hands-on activities, arts and crafts, field trips and guest presentations. Programs are intended to be educational, engaging and safe.
Weeks are each based around a different theme: week one is Explorers, week two is Farm and Garden, week three is Planes, Trains and Automobiles, week four is Space Camp, week five is Let’s Be Patriots, week six is Around the World, week seven is Under the Sea, week eight is Mad Scientists, week nine is Superheroes and week ten is Magical Memories.
Each week includes field trips or guest presentations related to the theme. Campers will have opportunities to visit and learn from community partners such as the St. James Police Department, Missouri Veterans Home and Intercounty Electric Cooperative. Details regarding activities and field trips will be provided to parents in advance.
Children can be enrolled in up to all 10 weeks of camp. Drop in registration is also available. Campers must be between ages 5- to 13-years-old as of Aug. 8, 2026, to participate.
Camps run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday at Nelson Hart Community Hall. All campers must be dropped off by 10 a.m. at the latest and picked up by 5:30 p.m. each day.
Those attending need to bring a sack lunch and refillable water bottle everyday. An afternoon snack will be provided. Children should also come with sunscreen, an extra change of clothes, closed-toed shoes and a swimsuit and towel for water activity days.
All staff are trained in basic first aid and child supervision. Campers are grouped by age and/or size for activities to ensure safety and engagement.
To register, go to stjparks.recdesk.com/community/home and click “Summer Camp.” Space is limited to 32 campers per week, so families are encouraged to sign up early. For questions, contact Recreation Supervisor Jodi Adkisson at 573-699-8036 or email jadkisson@stjamesmo.org.
