Richard Owen Chapman of Rolla, Missouri was born on Aug. 16, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph and Margaret Chapman and passed away on Jan. 23, 2026 at the age of 83 years.

He worked in construction his whole life.

He served his country honorably in the United States military from October 1964 to October 1970.

He was an avid fisherman.

On September 11, 1994, Richard married Dottie June Chapman in Salem, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Chapman; first wife, Suranda Chapman; second wife, Charlene Chapman; brothers, Edward “Red” Chapman, Norman Chapman, David Chapman and Paul Chapman; sisters, Vivian Hartline, Norma Schur and Zola Maylee; granddaughter, Suranda Culver; and grandson, Joseph Cox.

He is survived by his wife, Dottie Chapman; son, Yancey Chapman and and wife Courtnee, Eddie Berry and wife Theresa and Robert Lohrer; daughters, Cassandra Culver, Kimberly Haddock and husband Kevin, Gidget Zakar and husband John, Vicky Mauzey and Cheryl Bowen; grandchildren; great grandchildren; siblings, Andrew Chapman, Raymond “Pete” Chapman and Bernice Chapman; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Bro. Bradley Dimock officiating. Hymns of "What Sin," "Going Home" and "What A Day That Will Be" were sung by Matt Chapman and Andrea Holliday.

Pallbearers were Mason Culver, Kade Rankin, Matt Chapman, Jared Culver, Damian Chapman and Billy Edwards.

Burial in Pea Ridge Cemetery.
