Ruth Ann Hartung

Ruth Ann Hartung of Sullivan, Missouri was born on Oct. 7, 1945 in Gerald, Missouri to Roy and Verna (Brown) Schweer and passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the age of 80 years.

She grew up in Gerald and attended Owensville High School.

She married Fred Hartung on July 13, 1963 and raised their family in Bourbon, Missouri.

Ruth worked as a cook at the Sullivan Senior Center for over 25 years. Following her retirement, she and Fred moved to Branson, Missouri, where Ruth went to work at Silver Dollar City for seven years.

After their time in Branson, Ruth and Fred headed south, spending time in Texas and Louisiana working as gatekeepers for fracking fields. In 2016, they returned home.

Ruth eventually went back to work alongside her son, Brian, at Uncle Ernie’s, where she worked from 2022 until November 2025 as a prep cook in the kitchen.

She was well known for sending cards for holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions.

She enjoyed Christmas and kept an entire room in her home dedicated to Christmas year-round.

She loved the Lord and attended The Ridge Church of Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hartung; parents, Roy and Verna Schweer; sister, Glenda Caldwell; and pups, BurBur and Sissy.

She is survived by her two children, Carol Henry and Brian Hartung of Sullivan, Missouri; three grandchildren, Courtney Henry of Sullivan, Missouri, Britany Gargus and husband Clayton of Bourbon, Missouri and Ethan Henry and fiancé Rebecca Bogacki of Sullivan, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Lillian Callahan, Madilyn Gargus and Adyson Lane; nieces, whom she loved as daughters, Amy Maune of Jefferson City, Missouri and Stephanie Dudley and husband Matt of Bourbon, Missouri; nephew, Vernon Caldwell of Union, Missouri; special companion, Augie Hartung of Leasburg, Missouri; precious pups, Sadie and Katie; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at noon on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Matt Dudley officiating.

Interment followed at Bourbon Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan, Missouri.
