My name is Linda Wischow and I am a candidate for the St James School Board.
I have lived in St. James since 1975, and this community has been my home for nearly 51 years.
My daughters both attended St. James Schools, and like many families here, our lives have been closely tied to our local school system.
I retired from Ft Leonard Wood on January 31, 2012, after years of service, but retirement has not meant me stepping away from the community.
I work part time selling Avon Cosmetics and volunteer with the Phelps County AmeriCorps Seniors’. Staying involved with people of all ages has given me a perspective on how education, preparation and life skills impact our community long after graduation.
I’m running for school board because I care deeply about how our children are learning and whether they are prepared to succeed on their own after high school. Education should do more than help students’ pass tests. I believe schools should equip students with knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the next step, whether that is college, technical training, military service or entering the work force.
Being a parent and grandparent, I understand the importance of strong schools and responsible leadership.
I believe school board members should listen to parents, support teachers and staff, and make decisions in students’ best interest.
Transparency, common sense, and accountability matter especially when it comes to our children’s future.
I would be honored to earn your support and your vote.
