Hello, my name is Michael Retkowski, and I am running for the Steelville R-3 School Board this April. I currently work in Electrical Design for Martin Energy Group. My wife, Danielle, has dedicated the past 20 years to education and serves as the Special Education Director for the Iron County C-4 School District.

We are proud parents of two sons, Sean and Aiden. Sean graduated from Steelville High School in the Class of 2023 and used his A+ Scholarship to attend State Technical College. Aiden will graduate this May and plans to use his A+ Scholarship at Mineral Area College before transferring to Missouri S&T.

With both of our sons having graduated or preparing to graduate, I want to give back to the community and support the school system that provided them with so many opportunities. Through Steelville R-3, Sean and Aiden were able to participate in clubs, athletics, and community involvement activities that helped shape who they are today.

If elected, I will be a voice that promotes excellence in academics, activities, and athletics. I want Steelville R-3 to be recognized as a leader in our region. I believe success takes a team effort from our custodians, bus drivers, and support staff to our teachers, administrators, superintendent, and the community. Every role matters in building a strong school system.
