Steelville High School’s Theatre Department is putting on “Clue (High School Edition)” at 7 p.m. on March 27 and 28 at the Meramec Music Theatre. The 25-student cast and crew has been rehearsing since December to put the show together.
The school put on “Clue” five years ago, and drama teacher Natalie Pyatt said it drew some of the program’s biggest audiences.
“I’m really excited for one, because my kids, they’re absolutely in love with it, and I’m excited for the community to come and support the kids,” Pyatt said. “It’s a hilarious play. I mean, it’s based off of the 1985 movie and then the board game, and so it’s a pretty popular little genre in and of itself.”
“Clue” is a very technical play to put on, Pyatt said, because the students need to have their comedic timing lined up just right with the sound effects, lighting and music.
“Everything has to be exactly perfect,” she said. “There’s a bunch of transition scenes that are very choreographed. It’s meant to look chaotic, but it’s like a very, very timely, extremely organized chaos.”
Tickets can be purchased for $7 at the door on both show days.
“Theater is something that kind of grabs the kids that sometimes feel like they don’t belong, and this is a place for them to shine and for our community to step up and come and support the kids that feel that way,” Pyatt said. “It’s invaluable. There’s nothing that is better for the kids.”
