Timothy W. Morris, 41, of St. James, was arrested June 10 on allegations of seven class B felony charges for child pornography, second/subsequent offense or possessing more than 20 pictures/one film/videotape.
Sergeant Shawn C. Hedge, of the South-Central Missouri Computer Crimes Task Force and Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, wrote in the probable cause statement that he was assigned a cyber tip on June 18 from the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He was to investigate the tip from Yahoo Inc. that alleged that a user of their service possessed 301 suspected child pornography files.
During the investigation, Morris was identified as the suspect. A search warrant was authorized July 10 by the Phelps County 25th Judicial Circuit Court to allow the search and seizure of evidence at Morris’ residence and on electronic devices and electronic storage devices.
“While at the residence, Morris admitted to the ownership, custody and control of the Yahoo Inc. account. Furthermore, admissions were made that he knowingly (collected) child sexual abuse material (child pornography) for several years,” Hedge wrote.
Morris is currently being held at the Phelps County Jail with no bond as he has been deemed unlikely to appear on summons and is a danger to the community.
