Nathan Headrick, 46, of St. James was arrested Jan. 21 and charged with felony drug offenses following a narcotics investigation conducted by the Rolla Area Drug Enforcement (R.A.D.E). He appeared in Judge Kenneth Clayton’s court room on Feb. 3 for a bond review hearing. No new information was printed before the newspaper’s deadline.

Headrick, who pleaded not guilty and is currently in custody, was charged with distribution of a controlled substance in a protected location and delivery of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $250,000 cash or surety with added conditions, including:

• Defendant shall not violate the law.

• Defendant shall appear as ordered in this case until it is disposed.

• Defendant shall not possess a firearm or other deadly weapon.

• Defendant shall consent to a search of his/her person, residence, vehicle or possessions upon request of a law enforcement officer or the OCCS office supervising Defendant.

• Defendant shall be supervised by OCCS, Inc, and shall report to the OCCS office at 400 N. Main St., Suite 201, Rolla, Missouri no later than 9 a.m. on the first business day following his or her release on bond. Bond supervision shall be at Defendant’s expense.

• Defendant shall follow all directives of OCCS and the officer supervising his/her bond.

• Defendant is prohibited from using or possessing controlled substances without a prescription.

• Defendant is prohibited from using or possessing marijuana.

• Defendant is prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol or alcoholic beverages.

• Defendant shall submit to chemical testing of his/her blood, breath or urine to determine usage of controlled substances or alcohol as directed or requested by OCCS or the Court.

R.A.D.E., assisted by the Rolla Police Department, Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, Dent County Sheriff’s Department and St. James Police Department, executed search warrants in the 900 block of Lyon Street and the 100 block of Home Avenue based on information that Headrick was transporting narcotics between the two residences for distribution.

Police seized about 6.53 grams of methamphetamine from Headrick at his residence on Lyon Street, as well as a digital scale and baggies, according to a probable cause statement. He was also found to be in possession of several stolen bicycles.

During the investigation in the 100 block of Home Avenue, police seized a glass smoking device determined to be Headrick’s and discovered methamphetamine paraphernalia within reach of two children under the age of 10 years old.

Headrick’s residence is located within 2,000 feet of St. James Middle School, which is a protected location under Missouri law and therefore elevates his charges.

“During a post-Miranda interview with Headrick, he admitted to selling methamphetamine to several individuals throughout the community. Methamphetamine is highly addictive and destructive, fueling crime, health crises and instability that harm not only users but also the safety and well-being of the entire community,” Officer Cody Scott noted in his probable cause statement.

“This investigation was the result of coordinated efforts between multiple local and county agencies, and it highlights the importance of collaboration in addressing the distribution of illegal narcotics in our communities,” St. James Chief of Police Ron Jones said.
