A 48-year-old St. James man was killed on Aug. 22 in a fatal one-vehicle crash.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s accident report, the vehicle, a Ford F-150, was headed westbound on Highway YY, around one mile West of the Crawford County Line.
According to the report, the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. after the driver failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off of the right side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the roadway.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by a Phelps County deputy coroner, and transported by to the Rolla crematorium.
According to the report, the incident is Troop I’s second fatal crash in the month of August and the 23 in 2026 so far. Troop I serves Phelps, Crawford, Dent, Maries, Pulaski and Laclede counties.
