Without its top runner, the St. James High School boys’ cross country squad still finished third in the team standings of the 48th annual Linn Invitational, held Saturday, Sept. 12.
In the boys’ meet Blair Oaks won the team crown with 65 points while Fulton was second with 110 and St. James a point back in third at 111.
Leading the charge for the Tigers was sophomore Kylar Hodge, who finished third overall with a time of 17:51.71 while Tristin Barton was 23rd for STJ at 20:04.13; Kypton Earney 33rd at 20:22.83; Eric Bolte 34th at 20:23.74, and Ryder Byfield 36th at 20:38.11.
Junior all-stater Ashton Moreland did not run for the Tigers; he is hoping to be back this week.
Blair Oaks’ Caiden Casey was the meet medalist at 17:44.73.
Moberly won the girls’ race with 43 points. Falyn Davidson of Elsberry was the girls’ medalist at 21:13.15. The Lady Tigers had a top-10 finish, as Tara Murphy was eighth overall at 23:20.47.
St. James also competed in the First Capitol Invitational Sept. 4.
The Tiger runners are to compete in the Steelville Invitational Thursday, Sept. 17, starting at 4 p.m.
