Starting Dec. 9, seats on the Crawford County 911 Emergency Services Board, the Steelville Ambulance District Board of Directors, the city of Steelville Board of Aldermen, the Steelville R-3 School Board, and the Salem Memorial Hospital Board of Directors will be open for election.

The Crawford County 911 Emergency Services Board will have three open seats. District One will have a four-year term seat open, while District Two will have two seat openings. One of those positions comes with a four-year term, and the other has a one-year term. Candidates declaring for seats in District Two will need to say which term they wish to run for.

The Steelville Ambulance District Board of Directors is filling two seats: one in District One (city of Steelville) and one in District Four (Courtois/Liberty Township, North of Highway 8 in the Steelville School District).

Several positions are open on the Steelville Board of Aldermen. Terry Beckham is reaching the end of his third two-year term as mayor. The city marshal seat, currently held by Mike Sherman, is a four-year term position. Alderman Ward I’s, Curtis Crouch, and Alderman Ward 2’s, Lula Patterson, two-year term seats will also be up for election.

Three seats will open on the Steelville R-3 School Board, each with a three-year term. Rachel Martin will be finishing off her first term on the board. Brad Brooks and Scott Perkins will also be at the end of their terms, and their seats will open.

Salem Memorial Hospital is searching for two people to join its board of directors. Karen Brown is finishing up serving a partial term as Director of District One. She was appointed to the position in February 2024 and will be running again for the six-year term. The District Three director position, while currently vacant, is open with a three-year term.

Further updates will be made as filing opens and more information becomes available.
