A Crawford County woman was killed around 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 in a single-vehicle crash on Highway M near Highway U.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, a 65-year-old Steelville female was traveling northbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Tracker when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a culvert, became airborne, and struck a tree.
The driver, who was not named in the report, was partially ejected. She was pronounced dead at 2:23 p.m. at the scene by EMS Kim Hill. The driver was not wearing a safety device.
MSPH was assisted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, the Steelville Fire Department and Steelville EMS. The vehicle was towed by Miles and Sons Towing.
This is Troop I’s first fatal wreck of October and the 22nd for the year.
