Dear Editor:
On Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026 at about 10:30 a.m. I, an 80-year-old man, did something that I thought I could do but ended up was not able to do and I fell off a stepladder.
Thinking I may have been badly hurt, my neighbor summoned the ambulance. When the paramedics arrived (a gentleman and a lady in the ambulance and a gentleman in a OCAD staff vehicle-I did not catch their names) I found them most courteous, respectful and willing to assist in any way possible.
Not feeling that I was in any way badly hurt, other than having my ego hurt and my ribs being sore, I refused any kind of medical treatment even though the paramedics suggested I get checked out by a physician.
I just want to take the opportunity to thank these three paramedics for their quick response, courteous and respectful manner. Thank you.
If I ever really need an ambulance I hope they will send you there. Even though I didn’t know your names, you know who you are.
With respect,
Dieter F. Palmer, USN (Ret)
