The St. James Kiwanis Club will host one of its biggest fundraising events of the year, Pancake Day, from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 7 at St. James Middle School.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by sending a Venmo payment to the St. James Kiwanis secretary, Maretta Diestelkamp at @Maretta-Diestelkamp. The cost is $7 per person or $25 for four tickets. Kids ages five and under are free.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes with various toppings, including chocolate chips, peanut butter, strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, butter, syrup, and a sugar-free syrup option. Sausage patties, milk, orange juice and coffee will also be served.

The event will feature live bluegrass, country and gospel music from 8-11 a.m. performed by local musicians.

All funds raised during the event will go toward programs benefiting the youth of St. James, including boys basketball for third through sixth graders, girls volleyball for fourth through sixth graders, jump ropes for all fifth grade students, two $1,000 Education Grants for graduating seniors, participation in the Back to School Fair and co-sponsoring Breakfast with Santa and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny.

The Kiwanis Club’s goal is to change the world one community and one child at a time. It has been hosting Pancake Day annually for over 50 years.

“The best part of Pancake Day is spending time with people we may not see on a regular basis and eating the best pancakes around,” Diestelkamp said.
