Tigers fall in three games last week

The St. James High baseball squad dropped three games last week.

The Tigers were shut out by Four Rivers Conference rival St. Clair 10-0 at Nelson Hart Park Monday, April 6. St. James traveled to Salem Tuesday, April 7 and lost 5-2. And Thursday, April 9 the Tigers dropped a league game at Pacific 10-0.

St. James is 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the FRC.

This week St. James was scheduled to host Gateway Legacy Monday, host Owensville Tuesday, play at New Haven Thursday and return to Nelson Hart Park to host Vienna Friday (4:30 p.m.).

April 9 - Pacific 10, STJ 0: The Tigers were shut out on two hits - singles by senior JV Meurer and senior Trevor Mitchell. Junior Isaac Pearson was the starting and losing pitcher, going 3 2/3 innings before being relieved by sophomore Aiden Cruz. Pacific won the junior varsity game 11-0.

April 7 - Salem 5, STJ 2: St. James opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning. Salem would tie the game in the bottom of the third. And after STJ regained the lead in the top of the fourth, Salem took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom half. Salem added two more runs in the sixth. St. James outhit Salem 5-2 but Salem took advantage of eight walks and eight St. James fielding errors. Freshman Jaden Otto and senior Eugene Lefebvre each had a hit and RBI while Meurer had a hit and scored twice and junior Hunter Freeman and Mitchell also singled. Lefebvre stole a base. Mitchell started and pitched the first four innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and five walks while fanning eight. Pearson finished up the final two innings on the mound, allowing no earned runs on no hits and three walks. Salem won the JV game 6-3.

April 6 - St. Clair 10, STJ 0: The St. Clair Bulldogs got two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth. The game was stopped after five innings due to the run rule. Cooper Schacht had a double and single for the Tigers while Mitchell and Otto both singled. Meurer pitched the first 4 2/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits and four hits while striking out three. Cruz finished up on the mound. St. Clair took the junior varsity game 10-1.
