Trunk or Treat will return to Maramec Spring Park in St. James

The St. James Parent-Teacher Community Organization (PTO) and Maramec Spring Park will again be partnering to offer Trunk or Treat, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the park.

The annual event always draws a huge crowd to the park as participants trick or treat.

“It’s going to be similar to previous years," PTO Treasurer Kendra Swee explained. "The trunks will be set up along the front road of the campground and then campers are decorating and handing out candy as well, which includes the new section of campground so it’s even bigger than last year.”

There are currently 25 trunks signed up to offer goodies and candy for trick-or-treaters to enjoy as they pass through the park. Participants will begin at the start of the campground and will wind throughout the sites where trunks will be spread out along with campers who will also be set up along the route.

Free entry to the park will begin at 3 p.m. and participants can drop by anytime during the event to enjoy a fun night of trick or treating with the community.

“We are hoping to have a few of our own booths this year, kind of just some activities and things for the kids to do, if we can get them all ready in time. We have a Harry Potter theme this year,” Swee said.

Participants can dress to match the theme or wear their chosen Halloween costumes. Trunk or Treat was created to provide a safe place where families could trick or treat all in one location, making it easy for children to receive candy for Halloween.

Swee said there are still openings for any business, organization, or others to get involved if they would like to set up a booth at the event. Anyone interested in registering can contact Swee at kendraswee@maramecspringpark.org or by calling 573-265-7124 extension 3. Those registered will be emailed setup information next week on where their trunks will be located throughout the park.

Swee said park staff will help with the event and are planning on dressing up in a variety of costumes and are looking forward to another fun year of celebrating Halloween.
