Cuba Fire Protection District on the morning of Jan. 26, respond to a request for assistance with freeing two horses from a frozen pond.
The animals mistakenly walked onto the snow-covered ice. Once they fell through, the horses were unable to climb out.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel carefully climbed on the ice and broke a path through it to create an exit route to the bank.
Once the horses were back on solid land, they were checked out by veterinarian KC Swope from the Cuba Veterinary Clinic, who found them to be in good condition despite their stressful and freezing incident.
They were then taken to rest and recuperate in a dry barn.
