Staff and volunteers of the St. James Caring Center and Senior Center recently gathered for the annual holiday celebration. The event featured food catered by Country Mart in St. James, homemade pies from Little Jack Horner’s in Cuba, and plenty of door prizes and giveaways that added to the festive spirit.
Throughout the year, staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that families in need have access to food, essentials, personal hygiene items, and benevolent services. The Thrift Store remains the primary source of income to support these programs. Every item sold is donated—meaning each purchase is a form of recycling—and the goal is to keep prices affordable so families can find what they need. Of course, many shoppers also enjoy browsing for that special treasure.
The Senior Center continues to be a hub of community life, offering nutritious lunches, health-related services, and—just as importantly—the camaraderie, engagement, and friendships that keep people coming back.
Thrift Store hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Thrift store is located at 113 W. Eldon Street in St. James.
Senior Center hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Senior Center is located at 110 W. James Blvd. in St. James. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
