Crawford County, Cuba board filing candidates

UBA — Filing closes on Dec. 30 for the April 7, 2026, municipal elections, but Crawford County and city of Cuba boards still have several seats in need of candidates, including the North Crawford County Ambulance Board of Directors, Cuba Alderman Ward 1, and the Crawford County R-2 Board of Education.

Crawford County 911 Emergency Services Board has three open seats. District 1 incumbent Thomas Mounce and District 2 incumbents William Harlan and Christina Barton filed for reelection during opening week.

Cuba mayor and Board of Aldermen have four seats open. This week, incumbent Alderman Ward 2 Harold Halbert filed to retain his seat for another two-year term. 

Incumbents who filed for the Cuba Board of Aldermen during opening week include Mayor Kevin Copling and Alderman Ward 3 Joyce Hartzell. Both seats come with two-year terms. Also, within the first week of filing opening, Chris Newcome and Ciara Kitchen filed to run agains Hartzel for the Ward 3 seat. 

Incumbent Kim Roedemeier filed for reelection as city collector.

Cuba Fire Protection District has one seat up for election with a six-year term, currently held by Bill Lange. Carl Lange declared his intention to run for the seat this week.

North Crawford County Ambulance District has two seats open. Don Mizell currently holds the District 1 seat while Mike Delashmit holds the District 4 seat. Neither have filed to retain their seats.

Crawford County R-2 Board of Education has three seats open, each carrying a three-year term. Incumbents are Cheri Schuette, Tammi Palmer and Jennifer Moreland. 

Village of Leasburg and Village of St. Cloud couldn’t be contacted. 

Village of Leasburg has three seats open with two-year terms. They are currently held by Carolyn “Sue” Prince, Shirley Williams and Linda Soules.

Village of St. Cloud has two seat open, each with a two-year term. Current trustees are Darrell Bosse and Sean Flowers.
