James Memorial Public Library will be celebrating 73 years this month with a full schedule of events for February.
Throughout the month, all ages will have the chance to challenge Library Director Ken Kelly to a game of chess. Winners will receive a prize and have their name displayed on a poster of masters who beat the librarian.
Thursday Evening Brew and Book Crew will kick off this month at 6 p.m., with members reading “The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden. The psychological thriller follows a maid who becomes entangled in the dark secrets of the wealthy family she works for.
Members will discuss the book each week with coffee, tea and snacks provided. Copies of the book are available for free to book club members.
The 10:30 a.m. Morning Brew Book Club will begin on Feb. 5 and continue every other Thursday of the month.
Other February events include:
• Puppet shows at 1 p.m. every Tuesday.
• Story time at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday.
• Bible Study at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
• Literacy Coffee Clutch at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, which aims to promote literacy throughout the community.
• Kids Yoga at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7.
• Dinosaur Bones at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, where kids will have the chance to see and learn about dinosaur bones.
• STEM Exhibition at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.
