March brings more new programs for both children and adults to the Crawford County Library District.
Children’s Programs
Each branch has its own weekly children’s story time, with a different theme each week.
Bourbon hosts storytime at 11 a.m. on Mondays, Cuba at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Steelville at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Weekly themes include “Adventures,” “We Love Dogs,” “St. Patrick’s Day” and “Springtime.” During the last two days of March, the Bourbon and Cuba branches also have the theme of “Time for Bed.”
These storytimes include reading books, creating crafts, playing games and other activities that children can do, which help promote early literacy.
Bring the whole family to the Steelville branch at 5:30 p.m. on March 6 for family movie night.
Steelville also has the Kids Klub at 4 p.m. on March 12, where young readers will learn about mammals from the Conservation Department.
The Kids Klub will also be at Bourbon at 9:30 a.m. on March 16, where young readers will learn how to read topographic maps and build their own examples with the University of Missouri Extension.
The Girl Scouts program will be visiting the Steelville branch at 6:30 p.m. on March 25 to provide information on being a Girl Scout Daisy — a new troop for girls who are about to be in kindergarten in the fall, currently in kindergarten or are in first grade.
Outreach
Outreach will be at Yahweh Academy at 1:30 p.m. on March 4, and at Pasch Daycare at 10 a.m. on March 11 and March 25 in Bourbon.
Steelville will have outreach at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on March 6 at Steelville Pre-K, and at 9:30 a.m. on March 12 at the Community Child Care Center.
Outreach will be in Cuba at 9 a.m. on March 10 and 31 at Cuba Headstart, and at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on March 13 at the All Aboard Learning Center.
Adult Programs
Crawford County Library District offers a variety of programs for adults of all ages. If interested in attending, register by calling or messaging via Messenger, as some events have a seating limit and it is first-come, first-served.
There are five programs in March at the Bourbon Library.
Learn about the basics of beekeeping at 5:30 p.m. on March 2, led by Kathy Anderson.
For those who love to work with their hands, at 5:30 p.m. on March 9, the Bourbon branch is hosting craft night. Join for a night of painting and crafting.
The monthly meeting of the Bookish Brunch Book Club is at 6 p.m. on March 19, and you can call the Bourbon branch for more info.
Starting at 1 p.m. on the last Friday of the month, March 27, will be the meeting of the Culinary Cooks Club. This club meets monthly to exchange recipes and dishes of that month’s theme. March’s theme is soups.
Interested in learning how to identify mushrooms, different types and some delicious mushroom-based recipes? Then visit the Bourbon branch at 5:30 p.m. on March 30 for their event, Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms.
Crawford County Library District Cuba branch has four events in the month of March, starting with the Shelf Indulgence Book Club at 1 p.m. on March 12, which is taking the place of the Kozy Killers Book Club.
Starting at 2 p.m. on March 17 will be the monthly Senior Crafternoon.
Looking to decorate the fridge? The Cuba branch is hosting Mini Magnets, where participants can paint sets of mini magnets.
The University of Missouri Extension will be at the Cuba branch at 6 p.m. on March 31 to present “How To: Plant Propagation.” They will discuss how to start plants from seeds, cuttings and grafting.
Visit the Steelville branch during one or more of their six different kinds of events that they have in March.
Every Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., the Steelville branch hosts their Tabletop Role Playing Games.
With a 10-person limit, starting at 5:30 p.m. on March 5, register to make charcuterie boards before spots fill up.
Curl up with a hot cup of coffee while reading at the Steelville branch at 5:30 p.m. on March 12 to make ceramic coasters with book pages and modge-podge. They have a 12-person limit, so register before spots fill up.
At 2:30 p.m. on March 26, the Book Lovers Book Club will be holding its meeting.
With spring growing nearer, at 5:30 p.m. on March 26, learn how to make DIY floral wreaths. Limit of 10 spots available.
