Steelville Arts Council’s Gallery Zeke will be reopening for the season with a display featuring the work of Steelville High School art students. The exhibition will open on March 6 with a show that will display a wide range of mediums, including digital art, watercolor, sculpture, mixed media and more.
Students will have the option to sell their work if they’d like.
“It makes them feel good to have their art displayed,” STARCO volunteer Lisa Herbst said. “They work hard on it.”
Students will hang their own work before the exhibition opens and will be able to bring family and friends into the gallery throughout the month to show them their art.
The last day of the exhibition is March 28 with a same-day reception from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the gallery.
April will feature the Gasconade Valley student show, with six schools from the area sending in student work to be displayed. The show is hosted at Gallery Zeke each year because it can fit the high number of pieces that each school creates. It will run April 3-25 at the gallery.
The Women in Art exhibition will run May 1-23, parallel to programs like ARTrageous, a free, family-friendly arts event scheduled May 9 at Heartland Arts. The event will feature activities for kids, food trucks and live music and tents will be set up outside for artists to sell their work.
The 14th annual Plein Air event will run from June 1-5, drawing 50 artists from states around the Midwest. Sale day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 6 at Gallery Zeke. Paintings made during the event will be displayed in the gallery throughout the rest of the month.
Exhibitions for the remainder of the year will be titled:
• July 3-25: Route 66 and featured artist
• Aug. 7-29: Upcycled and Fabulous!
• Sept. 4-26: Photography
• Oct. 2-24: Art Squared Returns!
• Nov. 6 to Dec. 12: Ozark Pottery Guild Annual Show
All events are open to the public. Gallery Zeke is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. Additional hours may be available by request to Dennis and Lisa Herbst.
