The St. James Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet will be held at 5 p.m. on March 7 at Spencer Manor Winery. The theme is “The Emerald Evening: Honoring the Gems of our Community.”
Awards will be presented for Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Business of the Year, Organization of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Public Servant Award and Future Leader of the Year.
A special recognition award will also be given out this year to a business the Chamber would like to recognize for its impact on the community.
Citizen of the Year is presented to an individual or couple whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community during the preceding year.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community they have worked and lived in during their lifetime.
Each year, the Chamber recognizes businesses that are active members of the community and proud of what they have achieved for the Business of the Year Award. Businesses may nominate themselves or be nominated by another company or individual.
Organizations whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community during the preceding year are recognized by the Organization of the Year award.
The Public Servant Award is presented to an individual whose outstanding service and dedication have made the St. James community a better place to live. Public servants include firefighters, police officers, public health officials and elected officials.
The Volunteer of the Year honors an individual who has gone above and beyond to better the St. James community by volunteering their time.
The Future Leader of the Year is presented to a St. James high school student for their academic and personal efforts to model the values of a future leader.
After nominations closed on Dec. 8, nominees were placed on a ballot for the Chamber board to vote. The winners will be presented with their awards during the banquet. St. Louis executive consultant Tom Prindiville will be a guest speaker at the event.
