St. James’ Sanitation Department will conduct its yearly city-wide spring cleanup next week. From March 23-27, residents will be able to get rid of bulky items at no extra charge.
Over the course of the week, residents may set out two bulky items and five extra bags of trash per household. The city usually charges for these extra items, but during the week of spring cleanup, there is no additional charge.
Items must be placed next to your rollout cart by 6 a.m. on the day of your normal trash collection. Crews will collect your items at the same time as collecting your rollout cart.
Spring cleanup is for residential collection only, not commercial.
The city’s sanitation trucks can only accommodate certain bulky items. Those not accepted include electronics, appliances, construction items and debris, yard waste, items infested with insects, automotive parts, metals and chemical-containing or combustible items.
Call the Sanitation Department at 573-265-7011 extension 501 if you have questions or are unsure about an item.
The city is encouraging residents to take advantage of spring cleanup to clear out unwanted items and keep the town looking its best.
