I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the St. James R-I School Board. Growing up in rural northeast Missouri as the child of two educators instilled in me a deep respect for education. I attended Truman State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and later at Missouri State University, where I obtained a Master's degree in Elementary Education.
My professional experience spans 20 years in informal education, working with organizations such as Missouri State Parks and Maramec Spring Park. In this role, I have developed and implemented programming that complements student learning in the classroom, collaborating closely with the school district, teachers, and students.
While not originally from St. James, my family and I have lived in the area since 2008 and in St. James since 2019. My husband and I have three children enrolled in the school district, with one child in each building.
Since moving to St. James, I have been actively involved in the community and the school district, serving as an officer in the St. James PTO and Friends of the Library, as well as a sponsor for the middle school's Junior Beta Club. Furthermore, I have held leadership positions in my state professional organization and on the board of directors for my hometown bank. We are fortunate to have an exceptional school district in St. James.
As a board member, I would strive to support our educators and staff while ensuring that we continue to provide high-quality educational opportunities for all students.
