The above list of names is less than half of the 220 U.S. Marines and 21 other service personnel killed on Oct. 23, 1983, by Iran-backed Hezbollah.
Many Americans don’t realize it, but Iran has been at war with us for the last 47 years.
It started in 1979 when a clerical regime in Tehran revolted and took over Iran. Led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei and then Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has been at war — in their minds — with us since I was a sophomore in college.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has done more than just chant “Death to America,” they have killed, maimed, and injured thousands of Americans.
There is an old saying, “Believe what your enemies say.” For too long, our leaders have ignored threats from Iran like a horse ignoring a fly.
President Barack Obama’s administration approved a $1.7 billion payment to Iran in 2016 to settle a decades-old legal dispute and try to buy respect with the Ayatollah. It didn’t work.
Here is a partial list of attacks Iran has committed through their proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas.
April 1983: 17 Americans were killed at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.
March 1984: Terrorists kidnap CIA station chief William Buckley in Beirut, ultimately killing him in 1985.
December 1984: Two Americans were killed after Hezbollah terrorists hijack Kuwait Airways Flight 221.
June 1985: A U.S. Navy diver was killed when Hezbollah terrorists hijacked TWA Flight 847.
August 1995: A Hamas suicide bomber blows up a bus in Jerusalem, killing an American.
June 1996: A truck carrying 5,000 pounds of explosives blows up the Khobar Towers, killing 19 Americans and wounding 500 more
August 1998: With the assistance of Hezbollah, al Qaeda suicide bombers simultaneously blow up the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing 12 Americans.
July 2002: A bomb planted by a Hamas terrorist kills five Americans at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University.
2003-2011: Iranian-backed militias kill at least 603 U.S. troops in Iraq, according to the Pentagon.
August 2003: A Hamas suicide bomber blows up a bus in Jerusalem, killing five Americans.
January 2020: A direct Iranian ballistic missile attack against the Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq causes more than 100 U.S. troops to suffer traumatic brain injuries.
October 7, 2023: Hamas kills 48 Americans and kidnaps 12 other Americans in a massacre of 1,200 people in southern Israel.
November 2024: A report released by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies indicates that Iran and its proxies have conducted more than 180 attacks against U.S. forces in the Middle East between Oct. 17, 2023, and Nov. 19, 2024, resulting in over 180 wounded and three killed U.S. service members.
The number of Americans killed, between 1983 and 2024, with connections to Iran, comes to 943.
In March, after negotiations, Iran refused to give up its ambitions to develop a nuclear bomb.
Iran has never developed a weapon that it did not use. Therefore, the world cannot afford to allow the leading sponsor of terrorism to have access to a nuclear weapon.
Many Americans are complaining about higher gas prices. A temporary rise in fuel prices is nothing compared to the 943 who paid the ultimate price, or the price of a nuclear attack from Iran.
