The St. James High School track team will send seven boys and girls in five total events to the Missouri Class 3 State Championships this week through their respective performances at the Missouri Class 3 Section 3 Meet, which was held Saturday, May 16 at Buffalo High School.
The top four finishers in each event from sectionals advanced to the Class 3 State Championships, to be held Friday and Saturday, May 22-23 at Adkins Stadium on the campus of Jefferson City High School.
At sectionals for the Tiger boys, senior Aiden Boone placed second in the triple jump at 44-2 while sophomore Ashton Moreland was fourth in the 3,200-meter run at 10:19.64. For the Lady Tigers, state qualifiers are the 4x100-meter relay squad of sophomore Madalynn McCracken, senior Avery Campbell, senior Alex Hughes and junior Adalee Richardson, which finished in second place at :49.88 and STJ got fourth places from Richardson in the 100-meter dash at :12.94 and the 4x200-meter relay squad of McCracken, freshman Anslee Stubblefield, Campbell and Richardson at 1:47.08.
In the 22-school field, St. James placed 14th in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions as far as points scored. In the boys’ division Fair Grove led the way with 90 points while St. James scored 19. In the girls’ division Clever led the way with 82 points while St. James had 25.
