The St. James High School girls’ track team earned all-state honors in one event at the Missouri Class 3 Track and Field Championships, held Friday and Saturday, May 22-23 at Adkins Stadium on the campus of Jefferson City High School.
The Lady Tiger 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Madalynn McCracken, senior Avery Campbell, senior Alex Hughes and junior Adalee Richardson finished fifth with a time of :50.13.
The top eight finishers in each event earned all-state honors.
“We ran (as a team) all season,” McCracken said. “We thought we could go to state when we broke the school record for the second time at sectionals.”
“This is one of my best; my favorite team,” Richardson said. “We always have each other’s back.”
“The positivity and outlook we had all season got us here,” Hughes said. “And we are consistent - it’s not all riding on one person.”
“It’s just a great way to end things,” Campbell said of her final high school activity. “It’s the best possible way to end.”
The Lady Tigers advanced to state in two other events. Richardson finished 10th in the 100-meter dash prelims at :12.65. And the 4x200-meter relay squad of freshman Anslee Stubblefield, McCracken, Campbell and Richardson finished 15th in the prelims at 1:49.58.
For the St. James boys senior Aiden Boone just missed the state podium, finishing ninth in the triple jump at 42-2 1/4 while sophomore Ashton Moreland was 14th in the 3,200-meter run at 10:08.29.
