Waldron earns first team All-State softball honors

The awards keep rolling in for Bourbon’s slugging centerfielder Kinzey Waldron.

After already being named first team All-District and first team All-Region, Waldron was selected by the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association (MHSFCA) as a first team All-State outfielder for her play this past spring.

Waldron had a .522 batting average with 36 hits, 39 RBIs, 11 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 26 runs scored and five stolen bases. She also posted a .593 on-base percentage and an exceptional 1.433 OPS (on base plus slugging). Her 11 doubles and three homers were team-highs in each category.

Waldron primarily hit sixth for Bourbon’s best team in program history, and figures to move up in the batting order after the graduation of number two hitter Annalise Gobin.

In the field, Waldron anchored the Lady Warhawks’ young outfield with stout centerfield play and leadership with freshmen Brynn Miller and Bree Bouse playing on each side of her. Waldron made 12 put outs in center, and had just three errors throughout the season, the lowest of any everyday player for the Lady Warhawks.

Waldron still has two years remaining at Bourbon High School, and will look to help guide her team to the school’s first ever district title, after reaching the district finals for the first time in the program’s history.

Head coach Randy Payne has the luxury of bringing back Waldron and his entire roster sans Gobin, including fellow All-District selections Ella Biles, Lauryn Hercules, Savanna Vance and Hailie Kahmke. Hercules and Vance were also second team All-Region selections, showing that Bourbon’s star power goes beyond Waldron.

The future remains bright for the Lady Warhawks, whose potent offense plated 300 runs in 23 games, which was good for over 13 runs a game.
