Buyers at the 2026 Crawford County Fair 4-H and FFA Livestock Auction spent $502,878.25 by the end of bidding. Total sales were down $5,691.04 from last year’s event, which brought in $508,569.29. While sales shrunk slightly from the 2025 auction, buyers raised $10,000 for flood relief in Davisville, which experienced destructive flooding earlier this month.

Sales included:

• 41 slabs of country cured hams and bacon slabs sold for $48,550;

• 42 market steers for $251, 218.75;

• Two replacement heifers for $15,000;

• Seven market goats for $4,016;

• Nine market lambs for $9,363.00;

• 23 pens of rabbits for $10,300;

• 15 pens of chickens for $9,850; and

• 69 market hogs for $154,580.50.

Total, approximately 15,925 pounds of pork and 50,360 pounds of beef were sold at this year’s livestock auction.

Riley Deppe of Cuba FFA sold this year’s grand champion steer, weighing 1,400 pounds. Sullivan Bank bought it for $9 a pound for a total of $12,600 — the highest price paid for a steer this year. Sloane Ruble of ShowStock 4-H sold the reserve champion, weighing 1,395 pounds, to Bouse Mercantile for $5 a pound, $6,975 total.

ShowStock 4-H member Chelsea Pinnell sold a 274-pound grand champion hog to Catherine Lange and Charles Hurth-Attorneys for $14 a pound, $3,836 total, fetching the highest price of any market hog. Elsie Rutz, also a ShowStock 4-H member, sold the 207-pound reserve champion hog to CNC Plumbing for $14 a pound, $1,656 total.

Jessup Boast of ShowStock 4-H sold this year’s 1,065-pound grand champion replacement heifer for $9,000 to Wiese Contracting. The reserve champion replacement heifer was sold by Heath Pyatt of Yadkin Creek. It weighed 918 pounds and was sold for $6,000 to Ramona Andres.

ShowStock 4-H’s Mylee Gann sold this year’s grand champion market sheep, weighing 121 pounds, to Ability Express and Budget Automotive Care for $11 a pound, $1,331 total.

Sawyer Parrett of ShowStock 4-H sold the 140-pound reserve champion market sheep to Bouse Mercantile for $10 a pound, totaling $1,400, the highest bid on a market sheep.

Hayleigh Parrett of Steelville FFA sold the grand champion market goat, weighing 103 pounds to Ruble Show Stock for $927 at $9 a pound. Kynnadee Worley of ShowStock 4-H sold the reserve champion market goat, weighing 109 pounds to The Spurgeon Agency, for $545 at $5 a pound. The Spurgeon Agency donated back the reserve champion goat to be sold again.

Jordyn Poynter of ShowStock 4-H sold a pen of grand champion meat chickens for $1,000 to Lewis Diesel Performance. Brody Poynter, also of ShowStock 4-H, sold the reserve champion pen of meat chickens for $1,200 to Halbert Redi-Mix, LLC.

Aurora Myers of Wild-n-Free 4-H sold a pen of champion heritage birds, for $500 to Roger Hinson.  Savannah Bell of Lone Star 4-H sold the pen of reserve champion heritage birds, American Bresses, for $950 to Bob and Pat Bell.

Wild-n-Free 4-H’s Willow Licklider sold a pen of grand champion meat rabbits for $700 to Chris & Sons Towing. Oak Hill 4-H’s Sawyer Pogue sold the reserve champion pen of meat rabbits for $650 to Jennifer and Jimmy Harmon.

Eli Ruch of Outdoors and More 4-H sold the grand champion bacon for $2,000 to Tara Hamilton, real estate agent. Jada Licklider of Wild-n-Free 4-H sold the reserve champion bacon for $800 to Libhart Cattle.

This year, four non-grand champion auction items outsold the auction top prize winners. June Korte of Oak Hill 4-H sold a pen of rabbits weighing 431 pounds for $1,500 to John and Virginia Watson. Brody Poynter’s reserve champion pen of meat chickens brought in $1,200 — $200 more than the grand champion pen of chickens. Sawyer Parrett’s reserve champion sheep brought in at $1,400, the highest of its category.

Finally, Cora Hopkins’ 8.5-pound bacon slab pulled in an impressive $10,000 by split-purchase from Interstate Regional Stockyards and Wayde’s Equipment, who donated the slab back to be resold. It was then resold to Highway 19 Feed and Farm and The Leadline for $3,000 each. Along with a $1,500 donation from Adams Logging, community members at the 2026 Crawford County Fair raised $10,000 to help with flood damage in Davisville. Hopkins, who is a member of Outdoors & More 4-H, donated a quarter of the earnings from her bacon slab to be used for flood relief in Davisville.
