Virta M. Roskowske of St. James, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 23, 1936 to Homer and Ava (Kaiser) Stevens and passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 at the age of 89 years.
She married Otto F. Roskowske, on May 31, 1952.
For 22 years, Virta worked in the kitchen at the Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri.
When their sons were young, the family spent many weekends camping, making memories around campfires and lakeshores. Each summer, Virta and Otto looked forward to their two-week vacations, traveling cross-country by motorcycle.
Virta was a gifted and passionate writer, creating poems and short stories. She also enjoyed puzzles, drawing, painting and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ava Stevens; husband, Otto; and grandson, Kenneth Edward Roskowske.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas Roskowske and wife Connie of St. James, Missouri and Darrol Roskowske and wife Karen of Warsaw, Missouri; grandchildren, Eutonna (Billy) Gruver, Amy (Herman) Gruver, and Sara (Thomas) Alterauge; great grandchildren, Erica, Tiffany, Dylan, Jaylon, Cashon, Mycah, Malachi, Ryker, and Granger; great great grandchildren, Mitchell and Forest; other relatives and friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
