Virvine "Virv" George Ware of Cherryville, Missouri was born Dec. 5, 1945 in Lincoln, Illinois to Franklin Ware and Fannie Lea Ware and passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 2 days.
He married Ruth “Bonnie” Ahlheim. He later married Martha Ann Strowmatt in 1997.
He was employed at AMAX for 18 years and later worked for the Flying J Service Station where he retired after 13 years.
Virv enjoyed living on the farm where he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting from his truck, drinking his coffee and eating an Almond Joy or a Mounds bar. He loved watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and spent many hours watching the St. Louis Cardinals whether winning or losing. On Sunday’s, Virv also enjoyed watching any gospel singing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Fannie Ware; wife, Martha Ann Ware; two brothers, Curtis (Grace) Ware and Leonard Ware; and one grandson Scott.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca Kay (Michael) Stricklin of Arnold, Missouri, Rodney Ware of Cherryville, Missouri and Laura Ware of Ash Grove, Missouri; step-children, Lori, Rhonda and Geanie; grandchildren, Ashley, Kara (Zac), Leslie, Christopher, Chase, Viola, Kayle, Malia and Alicia; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Judy Loveless of Cuba, Missouri, Bill (Marilyn) Ware of Steelville, Missouri and Loyd (Jackie) Ware of Cherryville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Go Rest High,” “Daddy’s Hands” and “Lead Me Home” was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Ware Family Farm Cemetery in Cherryville, Missouri with casket bearers Rodney Ware, Chase Ware, Chance Reeves, Randy Ware, Curtis Lee Ware, Shawn Ware, Shannon Ware, Scot Ware and Ricky Watts as honorary.
