BOURBON — Bourbon High School’s boys basketball team’s season tipped off with a scrimmage against Hermann on Nov. 18 at Hermann High School. The Warhawk’s season officially began three days later on Nov. 21 when they traveled to Bismarck to take on the Indians.
The Warhawks battled early, and trailed 18-12 after the first quarter and 30-20 at halftime. But the Indians seized the momentum in the third quarter as they scored 21 points while Bourbon just scored four, leading to a 61-36 victory over the Warhawks.
Bourbon was led by Dawson King, who knocked down three three-pointers en route to his team-high 14 points. Andre Nixon added eight points, Joseph Woods scored six, Garrett Wallis hit a three-pointer, and Owen Miller and Jayden Booker each scored two points for the Warhawks. Bourbon couldn’t contain August Martinez, who poured in a game-high 27 points for Bismarck. Martinez’s running mates Talon Goodman and Austin Dunlap scored 15 and 12 points, respectively for the Indians.
The Warhawks played their home opener against Valley on Nov. 25, which will be detailed in next week’s edition. Bourbon will then compete in the 36th Annual Valley Tourney in Caledonia beginning on Dec. 1. The Warhawks will play away games against Richland, Chamois and Newburg before playing in their next home game on Dec. 17 against New Haven.
