Warhawk’s track and field team competes in Cuba Relays

For their second meet of the season, the Bourbon High School track and field team made the drive down Route 66 to compete in the Cuba Relays. The Warhawks had multiple top-10 performances and one top-five showing throughout the afternoon.

Lady Warhawk sophomore Jaelynne Rohrer took 10th place in the girls 100 meter hurdles with a 23.80 finishing time. Rohrer also competed in the girls’ long jump and triple jump events. She took 15th in the long jump with a 3.46 meter leap and finished in 18th in the triple jump with a 6.37 meter jump.

Sophomore Hayden Terry was Bourbon’s lone top-five finisher. She took fifth place in the shot put with a 8.92 meter heave.

Fellow sophomore Reese Bell competed in the girls 200 meter race, the girls long jump and the girls triple jump. Bell took 14th in the 200 meter race with a 32.76 time, 13th in the long jump with a 3.54 meter jump and 15th in the triple jump with a 7.74 meter leap.

Junior Payton Helton also competed in the girls’ triple jump and the girls long jump. Helton took 14th in the long jump with a 3.53 meter leap and finished 13th in the triple jump with a 7.79 meter jump.

Lady Warhawks Brianna Bouse and Savanna Vance, who competed in the March 23 meet in Sullivan, were busy playing for Bourbon’s softball team in their victory over Dixon, and didn’t compete in Cuba.

Freshman Drawe Froning was Bourbon’s lone top-10 individual finisher in the boys events. Froning took 10th place in the boys’ 1600 meter race with a 6:14.39 finish. Froning also competed in the boys 800 meter race and finished in 13th with a 2:41.07 time. 

Sophomore Cain Brenk competed in the boys’ 100 meter race and was a member of the boys’ 4x100 meter relay team that took eighth place. Brenk finished the 100 meter race in 13.24 seconds, which was good for 29th place.

Freshman Kaden Badger and sophomore Logan Bell were also a part of Bourbon’s 100 meter relay team. Badger finished the 100 meter individual race in 13.43 seconds, which earned a 34th place finish. Bell took 41st in the boys 100 meter race with a 13.83 time and finished in 23rd in the boys 200 meter race with a 28.49 finishing time.

Senior Ethan Williamson was the fourth member of the boys 4x100 relay team and was also a part of Bourbon’s 4x200 relay team along with Badger, Bell and sophomore Daniel Wager that took seventh place with a 1:53.17 time.

Freshmen Jonathan Poole and Presley Hilsey competed in the boys discus throw. Poole took 31st with a 16.19 meter toss and Hilsey took 37th with a 10.20 meter heave.

Junior Kyler Odgen-Davis competed in the boys shot put competition and finished in 31st place with a 7.46 meter toss.

The Warhawks’ track and field team will have eight days off before competing in the Pacific Invitational on April 7 at Pacific High School.
