William Donald Butler was born on Sept. 25, 1941 in Moberly, Missouri to William “Ardell” and Marjorie “Alene” (Magruder) Butler and passed away May 14, 2026 at the age of 84 years.
He grew up in Berkeley, Missouri, where he graduated from high school. Following graduation, Don furthered his education at the University of Missouri.
After college, he began working at Central Hardware. In 1974, he went to work for Ramsey, which later became Sealed Power and then Dana Corporation where he worked over 30 years.
On November 21, 1973 he married Corliss Cordia.
He loved fish fries, playing poker with friends and camping with his family at Meramec and Washington State Parks. He enjoyed bowling in a Sullivan league, golfing, painting beautiful scenes, building and creating things with his hands, making stained glass pieces and even writing poetry. He loved reading novels and making trips to the Sullivan library in search of another good book. He also enjoyed gardening, loved animals and supported various animal shelters.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Mark Wideman; and parents, Ardell and Alene Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Corliss Butler of Sullivan, Missouri; daughter, Daphney Sumner and husband Travis of Wildwood, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brittany Hill and husband Ryan of Bourbon, Missouri, Mitchell Wideman and significant other Michaela of Sullivan, Missouri, Melissa Oermann and husband Jake of Sullivan, Missouri, Lucy Sumner of Wildwood, Missouri, William “Liam” Sumner of Wildwood, Missouri and Bode Janish of Sullivan, Missouri; seven great grandchildren, Paisley, Sawyer, Finley, Olivia, Carson, Jackson and Brooks; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Remembrance Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Father Noah Waldman celebrating.
