An event that will help bring some spooky spirit to the community was presented to the Cuba Board of Aldermen during the June 16 city meeting.
Cyndi Mercer, former Parks Board president, detailed the potential event known as ‘Witches Night on Route 66’ to the Board of Aldermen, saying that the idea of it was inspired by ‘Witches Night Out’ events in other towns and will help the Cuba community get into the holiday spirit.
After confirming that another event isn’t taking place in the proposed area or on the same date, the Board of Aldermen voted 6-0 to approve the event. The event is scheduled to take place from 3 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 3 on Smith Street, near Recklein Auditorium and Cuba City Hall, from the corner of School Street to Route 66.
Attendees are encouraged to dress up in costume, and multiple winners will be selected for costume prizes.
All ages are welcome to attend the event that will feature local vendors, music, food trucks and arts and crafts.
A post for the event has been created on Facebook and those interested in being a vendor or having a food truck at the event are encouraged to reach out there to the event administrators. Those who would like to bring their food truck will be required to show a business license.
For more information and for any questions, reach out to Mercer, Amy Hendrix (573-368-1921) or Rena Martin (636-524-1429).
