Bourbon Aldermen decline community center donation

Bourbon aldermen declined to take responsibility of the Bourbon Community Center on July 21 when it was offered as a donation to the city.

During the discussion, both Aldermen Ward 2 Tim Davis and Aldermen Ward 1 James Naquing agreed that it is an asset to the community and should be used. Alderman Ward 1 Margie Brine said the city can’t afford to accept responsibility for the community center, and that it is already losing money since the library is moving to a new location.

A motion to decline the donation was approved with a 3-0 vote.

Mayor Sky Huddleston recommended changing the board of aldermen’s meeting dates from the third Tuesday of the month to the first and third Tuesday of the month to help lighten the meeting agenda. He believed it would help cut down on how much needed to be discussed during each meeting and make it easier to remember what happened at the last meeting.

The aldermen decided that if there was anything else they needed to discuss between meetings, they could just call a special meeting instead of having two per month.

In other business, a motion to appoint Stacy Blake as the Bourbon City Clerk, effective Aug. 1, was approved by a 3-0 vote.

A motion to remove Bremer from all city banking accounts was approved by a 3-0 vote.
